The shower or bath dilemma - which one do you prefer? There are obvious benefits to either approach. We’ve done the research and are here to shed some light on the topic for you.

Efficiency could mean different things for different people, so let’s start by defining the main parameters that we can attribute to efficiency:

●        The Cleanliness Factor

●        Skin & Health Benefits

●        Water Conservation

The Cleanliness Factor

Research has shown that both showers & baths are equally effective in cleaning up. While it may feel that showers make you cleaner due to the nature of continuous flow & draining of water, there is no evidence to indicate that showers are more effective than baths.

Bathtubs while they do involve soaking in the water for a prolonged period of time, it does the job of cleaning just as well. Cleansing your skin is a function of friction applied with soap. Whether you do this sitting down in a  tub or standing up with a shower pouring down on your body, the action remains the same and so do the results.

So if you’re looking at it from a cleaning standpoint, both work just as well.

Skin & Health Benefits

Baths & showers both have their benefits when it comes to skin & health care.

Soaking in a tub for a bit has a host of benefits such as:

●        It relieves sore muscles.

●        It’s good for your skin.

●        Bathing provides mental relaxation.

In addition, you can mix in various lotions, oils, and salts. This makes taking a bath more effective for relaxation, soothing and skin treatments.

Showers, on the other hand, have the benefit of not drying out your skin. Taking a cold shower will close the pores on your skin.

Water Conservation

When used with a water-saving shower head a shower uses about two gallons of water every minute - as opposed to a tub, which fills up at around 36 gallons. A 10- minute shower will consume around 20 gallons of water. It is a clear choice if you are looking to be more efficient.

Depending on what you’re looking for, either of the two could work out to be more efficient for your needs. Sometimes, all you want is a warm, relaxing spa-feeling session. Other times you need to activate your senses for the working day ahead.
